The thought of yet one more thing going up in price makes me squish up my nose and utter, "UGH!" Our neighbors to the east of us in Idaho have already address-ed the big price increase at the post office conversation. I think we need to get ready for it here in Washington, too.

I want to give this news my stamp of diss-approval; I still have Christmas cards I keep forgetting to mail out to family and friends.

Something New Is Coming to United States Post Offices Across Washington State

I can't even recall the last time I needed to buy a money order, but I know tons of people still get them. The USPS reports post offices will allow the existing money order inventory to run out, but newly redesigned money orders will be arriving at locations across the country very soon. Initial shipments will start rolling out next month (February).

These newbies will feature some updated watermarks for added security, plus QR codes and other enhancements.

I'm going to give the U.S. Post Office a pass this time because I do realize they are service provided snow, sleet, storm, or sunshine. My neighborhood mail people always deliver my posts every day with a pleasant smile (or a cordial nod) in my direction.

"The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations." - USPS
