The Wenatchee Wild is a Junior A hockey team who play in the British Columbia Hockey League.

The BCHL is a great league to earn a full ride scholarship at Universities across North America. 

The Wild play in the 4,300 seat Town Toyota Center.

“The Wolves Den” has provided loud support during their play in the NAHL (North American Hockey League) from 2008 - 2015. And Now in the BCHL (from 2015 to present). 

 

Wenatchee WIld Stories is back - featuring players from this year’s 2022-23 squad - led by Head Coach Chris Clark.


 

Our first visit is with Wenatchee Wild defensemen David Hejduk (#2)

David just recently celebrated his 19th birthday on January 3rd!

He is the son of former Colorado Avalanche star Milan Hejduk who played 15 seasons in the NHL and won a Stanley Cup in 2001. David is committed to Harvard University where he'll join up with his twin brother, Marek Hejduk.

Connor: David, thanks for taking time to visit with us. Where are you from? 

David Hejduk: Parker, Colorado

C: What is your favorite NHL team?

DH: Colorado Avalanche. 

 C: Who is your favorite NHL player and why?

 DH: Growing up I loved Tyson Barrie, I loved his playmaking and offensive abilities.

 

C: What is your earliest memory of hockey?
DH: Playing pond hockey in Evergreen, Colorado.

C: Who inspired you to want to play hockey at a higher level?

DH: My dad has always been a massive inspiration to me, and definitely inspired me to compete at higher levels of hockey.

C: What do you like about Wenatchee?

DH: I’ve never seen better fans in my years playing or watching hockey. The landscape is also beautiful.

C: What are your favorite places to eat in Wenatchee?

DH: Besides eating at my billets, I really like Garlini’s

C: What do you usually like to order at Garlini’s?

DH: I order the Chicken Milanese

C: What is your favorite opposing arena to play at and why?

DH: Penticton is my favorite place to play, the fans are very energetic, and the games are always competitive.

C: What is something Coach Clarkey has taught you since you joined the Wenatchee Wild?

DH: One thing I learned from Clarkey is that in everything you do, do it with passion.
